Roll-up Box

Isn't this the coolest!! The four triangle boxes fold together to fit in the square sleeve. This inspiration came from Tanya Bell. You need to check out her blog at Stampingt. You can click on it from the right side column. She has some really wonderful ideas, tutorials and videos on her site.

I like to use 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock, so this is my version of her great idea. This box is actually only two inches tall and the triangle boxes can be created from one sheet of cardstock. (you will need more for larger boxes). Each will hold a small gift (I used small baggies of embellishments for this one). I had a scrap piece to use for the sleeve.

So here is how I did it:

                                                        ROLL-UP BOX

Cardstock: (4)  5 1/4" x 5 ½" (or the height you want the box plus 2") for the box
                 (1)  8 3/4" x 3 ½" (or the height of your box) for the sleeve

With 5 1/4" side up to the top of score board, score at 1 3/8", 2 3/4", 4 3/4"
Mark the center edge of 2" section on each end. (See the white dots)
With 51/2" side to top of board, score at 1" and 4 ½"
On the outside 2" blocks, score from the corners to the markscreated to form a triangle.
Cut 1/4" along these score marks to the straight score. Trim the rest away.

Using paper cutter, cut a three sided opening in the center section, with the hinge on the first and
second smaller sections. (3/4" x 2 ½" or size for your box)(Use 3/4" circle punch for notch)
Place sticky strip on these flaps and the ½" flap. Form triangle box.

The 2" side is the outside of the Roll-up. Place washi tape on one side of this to form the hinge.
Attach all four triangle boxes this way.

Add washi tape to the inside triangles, then finish off with one long strip across the outside.
Snip between boxes and press down.

SLEEVE: Score at 1/4", 2 3/8", 4 ½", and 6 3/8"

BONUS NOTES:

Hold two boxes together as shown in right picture, to attach washi tape or lie flat as shown in first one.

 Any Size Box:

C/S:[ height plus width of size wanted] by [ ½"+ width +2x triangle side measurements](found by marking end triangle as shown in directions and measuring score line from center point to box corner) End score lines will be ½ of base measurement. Complete as in tutorial w/ new measurements.

Let me know if you have any questions and I would love to hear about what you think!

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

  5. Hi Mary Lee!! You mentioned in one of your postings (roll up box) that we could see Tana Bell's video of the same box. I have tried to compare it to yours, but I cannot find it. Is she still posting? Thanks to much!!

    1. Marina, so sorry this has taken so long. I have been unable to locate Tanya's sample. Her blog was Stamping T!, but she must have taken it down. Sorry I was also unable to help.
